Basic Job Descriptions:
Set-Up, Load-In
These positions are very hard work and heavy labor. Your job is to unload the shipping trucks of the hardware for the sale. This hardware includes the clothing racks, tables, tubs and tool boxes of supplies, etc. Once all of the hardware is unloaded into the site, you will then assist with the assembly of the racks and tables. Please select these shifts with the hard work in mind. Traditionally, these shifts are worked by ‘Dads’ and Team Members that enjoy the heavier labor.
Check-In, Drop-Off
These positions are very hard work and are almost exclusively in your feet. Your job will be one of several positions available. There are few opportunities to accommodate Team Members with limited mobility or activity restrictions.
-
Runner: This position will be walking for 4 hours. You will be assisting the consignors checking-in to place their items on the floor in the appropriate locations. You will be pulling/pushing racks and carts. You will be lifting up to 20-30 pounds, at times. This is a very active position.
-
Setting up: This position will be continuing the set-up process on the floor. Merchandising leads will be guiding you to arrange areas and items on the floor. You will be moving items, lifting and carrying up to 20-30 pounds at times. This position is active and on their feet for all or most of the 4 hour shift.
Sales Floor Hours
There are many, various positions for Team Members during open sale hours. There are limited opportunities for Team Members that have mobility issues or activity limitations. You will need to inform us of these issues, via email, when you sign up. Once you select your shift, email us at rikidsconsignment@gmail.com RE: Shift Accommodations. We will do everything we can to accommodate everyone willing to assist.
-
Sales Floor: You will be working on the floor with a primary goal to assist customers. You will be assigned to a zone of the floor to engage customers, maintain neatness, and keep an eye open for issues. Examples of issues are opening boxes or bags of toys, separating shoes to try them on, removing clothes from the hangers to try on, or playing on large toys like bikes or playhouses. You will be on your feet with minimal to extensive walking, depending on your zone.
-
Hold Area: You will be working behind the Hold tables and helping customers put items on hold for 2 hours. You will need to be able to lift large bundles or items to assist the customer to put them on hold. At times you will be asked to manage the Exit door and help verify large item purchases. You are never required to load items into cars or carry large items from the floor. For the most part, this is a more stationary position, but can be very busy at times.
-
Entrance Door: This position is the first experience the customers have with the sale. Besides greeting people and assisting them with bags and questions, you will need to place bands on all entering strollers, baby carriers, wagons, or similar items that we want to confirm were brought into the sale site. You are the first line of defense against theft. While this is a fairly stationary position, it does require you to be very alert and knowledgeable about the sales floor.
Sort/Break-down
-
Break Down: These positions are very hard work and heavy labor. There are no accommodations available for people that can not work to the capacity required. Your job is to break down all the tables racks, and tubs of gear. You will also load the shipping trucks. Please select these shifts with the hard work in mind. Traditionally, these shifts are worked by 'Dads' and Team members that enjoy the heavier labor.
This list is by no means extensive, we also are looking for cashiers, people who love that social media stuff like Instagram, people who like to organize things, etc.
